Principal's Message

Welcome to St. Bonaventure Parish School, home of the Saints. We are Roman Catholic school in the Diocese of Orange, serving students in grades kindergarten through eight. The School was founded in 1965 in Huntington Beach, California, as a ministry of St. Bonaventure Church. Our traditions and philosophy of education were firmly established by the Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Sisters are still an integral part of our community, serving in various roles including teacher, substitute, and institutional advancement ambassadors. Like their foundress, Nano Nagle, our own Sisters have lighted the way for tens of thousands of St. Bonaventure families. In steadfastly living their motto, Non Vox Sed Votum, Not Words But Deeds, they have been the conscience and heart of our community teaching each of us what it means to live a mission of love and service, especially service to children. The School is fully accredited by both the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Education Association, and is nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

Our mission to provide a Christ-centered, academically excellent and safe school environment in which all children can achieve their maximum God-given potential is supported by a challenging curriculum that integrates state standards with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Religious education is a priority, with prayer and worship a daily component of school life. The school is authentically Catholic, yet warmly welcomes students of all faith traditions. Teachers are highly qualified professionals and each models the belief that Christ is the reason for our school by nurturing the children in our care.

Our school wide learning expectations are that each student will be a Christ-centered Catholic, a life-long learner, an effective communicator, and a responsible citizen. St. Bonaventure School students are encouraged to develop personal responsibility and contribute to the community in which they live through service to each other, their families, their parish, their school, and the community beyond school.

The use of technology is an important aspect of our educational program. Teachers and students K through 8 use computers throughout the school day. Our campus is equipped with wireless network access, SMART Boards, classroom response clickers, wireless microphones, and multimedia projectors. Technology tools are routinely used throughout the school day to support meaningful and effective teaching and learning.

Our facilities demonstrate good stewardship by our community. Adjacent to St. Bonaventure Church, the campus includes 19 classrooms, library, computer lab, administrative offices, a before and after school child care center, a meeting center, a learning resource center, a prayer and reflection courtyard, two sets of playground equipment, two student lunch/picnic areas, and a large playground.

Financial aid and partial scholarships are available for qualified families and students. Current enrollment is over 600, with two classes at each grade. Our graduates attend local high schools including: Cornelia Connelly, Huntington Beach High School, Mater Dei, Marina, Oceanview, Servite, Rosary, and St. Joseph High School. After high school, many St. Bonaventure School alumni go on to graduate from prestigious colleges and universities.

St. Bonaventure School is a Christ-centered community where the traditions of our past point the direction for our students' future.
